Dr. Shun-Rong Zhang is a research scientist at MIT Haystack Observatory. His main research has been on upper atmospheric climatology, variability, long-term changes, and weather (space weather). He has been invloved in a number of research projects funded by the US NSF, NASA, AFOSR as a PI or Co-I. He is currently engaged in collaboration with colleagues from the US, China and quiet a few other countries. He also works closely with junior scholars of various levels, including mentoring REU students since the early 2000s. He has authored about 100 peer-reviewed journal papers in various ionosphere-thermosphere research areas. He won the 1996 COSPAR Zeldovich Medal.
