Carter Purple created the sign to inform visitors about the historic MIT Haystack and Millstone radar facilities in Westford.

As part of his Eagle Scout service project, local Scout Carter Purple designed and installed a series of monument markers at historical sites around Westford, including one at the entrance gate to MIT Haystack Observatory and MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Millstone radar facility.

A member of Troop 159, Purple also installed historical information signs at the Westford Town Farm Building, the MacDougall Ski Tow, the Westford Museum, and the original Westford Academy. Each sign includes a scannable QR code that provides a link to additional information at the Westford Museum.
